A Fitting Tribute to a Special Teacher

posted on 3 December 2011

Mrs. Diaz is retiring a few months from now. Having served the school as an elementary teacher for more than thirty years, the school administration wanted to pay tribute to her through a simple gathering. Miss Evelyn, the secretary to the President, has already looked for the perfect Tamworth catering to take care of the food on the big night. She was also tasked to make a personal card inviting all of Mrs. Diaz's family members to come and celebrate with the entire school community composed of the administration, the faculty, the non teaching and maintenance personnel. Every department is to prepare a presentation to be offered to Mrs. Diaz. While almost all groups opted for the usual song and dance number, the faculty chose to present the life story of Mrs. Diaz through a drama. Everybody got to know Mrs. Diaz a little better through the portrayals of the actors. When it was her turn to speak, Mrs. Diaz could only express words of thanksgiving. She ended her heartfelt message with these lines: Thank you for all your love. I will always remember you in my heart.

Posh and civilized just is not me.

They say life starts at 50 but i really don’t understand why, i presume they mean that the kids have flown the nest and you are free to go on your adventures and do what you want which is all very well if you have the money but most people at the moment haven’t and certainly i haven’t i work on a market stall which just wipes it’s face at the moment. So i embrace being 50 and decide to make some changes. Yes i am going to start enjoying myself, by doing very civilised things, first i warmed up with a hog roast nottingham which was actually very nice, then i followed with a book club on a Wednesday and i topped it of with a dinner party once a month for my over 50 friends. The only thing is it was so utterly boring i wanted to kill myself so i ended up back in the pub and let me tell you i’m a whole lot better for it!

Doing catering in college was entirely my dad's choice. I thought he was joking when he sent me to that college, but after two weeks in the college, I realized that I could not have been in a better college. We learnt a lot about food, coking, hygiene, service and so many other things. I had to let my parents know that I had already accepted the offer to study catering there than going to the university. After college, there was a severe lack of jobs in our country as a result of the economic recession. So many graduates were jobless and those who were working were getting so little in return. My college mates and I came up with an idea and started a catering service company. We got our inspiration from vintage crockery. We really started from a low turn but we were positive that things were going to be better. Now we are self employed while our fellow graduates are still waiting to get a job. We are still hoping that the government will do something to help them.
